Why Tom Grell for Woodstock City Council
Introduction: Hello, my name is Tom Grell. I am running for a seat on the Woodstock City Council, and I hope to earn your vote on April 2nd.
My Background: I have been a resident of Woodstock for over 40 years. My Grandfather owned a True Value store on the square during the 1950s, and my Dad spent part of his youth growing up here. He and my Mom moved us back here in 1977. I grew up here, and now own a home in town, with my wife Annette. We are raising our two children, Jerred (16), and Ali (11).
My Reasons for Running: My reasons are simple and honest. I love and take pride in our town. We have an amazing community, and I want to be part of helping make Woodstock the very best it can be.
My Promise: I promise to make each decision on the City Council with an objective, honest, and open mind.
My Vision: I see Woodstock as an amazing place to live and raise a family, full of charm and rich history. My vision is to build on the many attributes this town has, along with developing areas where we need help.
My platform is promoting growth, while not losing the character of our community.
We need to bring in businesses along Rt.47 and Rt.14. We very much need added revenue to build our infrastructure, such as our many failing streets.
We need residents. We have subdivisions with homes currently being built. We have award winning schools, that are not near capacity.
I am personally a supporter of our Woodstock Square, and would continue that support if elected. However, we need to focus beyond that area. I know and listen to many residents of our community. People want more choices. More choices for dining. More choices for shopping. More choices for things to do. We need to be forward thinking if we are going to thrive and be competitive with our neighboring communities. I want to help bring those choices. Let’s spend that money here, and support our local businesses.
